Steps to Getting Married in Lombok

In Indonesia, matrimony is registered at two different government institutions; Islamic Religious Affair Office (KUA) for Muslim couples and Civil Registry Office (DUKCAPIL) for non-Muslim couples.

1. Registration

Marrying Muslim SpouseGet the process started by submitting the required documents to the local KUA. If the document is deemed complete, they will require you to fill in the marriage application form. Once the form is completed, they will give you guidance about the next relevant steps regarding the solemnization. Please note that low non-tax state revenue may be applicable at KUA.

Marrying non-Muslim SpouseSimilarly, most of the terms and condition when marrying a Muslim spouse apply when marrying a non-Muslim spouse. Nevertheless, the process is started at DUKCAPIL Office instead of KUA.

2. Setting the Date

Propose your solemnization ceremony date upon the registration of marriage at the KUA or DUKCAPIL. The official will set their calendar and will immediately notify you if your proposed date match theirs.

Solemnization ceremony may be conducted at KUA for Muslim couple and at DUKCAPIL for non-Muslim couple or at any designated venue.

3. Wedding Reception

For your convenience, time and cost effectiveness,  you may hold the solemnization at the same time and venue as the wedding reception. Once the solemnization is done, the ceremony can seamlessly transition to the wedding party.

Post Marriage Registration

KUA or DUKCAPIL will issue a Marriage Certificate for you as the legal recognition of your marriage in Lombok. To earn the same recognition from your home country, you are required to register your marriage at your Embassy or nearest Consulate General.
